There is a lot of talk of market forces and a lot of depressing statistics that writers like to pull out when we talk about making money, but the truth is that writers have never had so much creative control, so much freedom, and so much opportunity.
If you want to make more money as a writer, it is up to you to first understand the opportunity, and then to take advantage of it.
You do that by learning as much as you can about the industry, about how other people are working, about what you can charge. Then you go out and market as much and as effectively as you can in order to take advantage of those opportunities.
