You Know You’re an Internet Addict When…

1. You’ve used the term IRL (in real life) in your online conversations. For instance, “IRL, I’ve been fixing the plumbing.”

2. You have over 200 facebook/orkut friends, and at least a hundred of those are ones you have not met IRL.

3. The friends at the forums you hang out everyday know the new color of your hair, even though you haven’t had a chance to show it to your mom yet.

4. You bring your laptop on a date. Hey, there might be wi-fi in the restaurant.

5. You’ve named your computer and say things like, “Max drank coffee today,” which is a better way of saying, “I spilled coffee all over my new laptop.” (I didn’t, in case you’re wondering. Just a few drops of juice.)

6. When you say, “My friend from Toronto,” you really mean the 60-year-old writer you met online who knows every tiny detail of your personal life, but have never met and likely, never will. Even when you’re in Toronto.

7. You’ve studied, networked, and found a job– all online.

8. When someone recommends music or a movie, you respond with, “Sounds good, I’ll have to put it on my download list.”

9. You haven’t read a real newspaper in over a year, but get the RSS feeds of most major publications in several countries.

10. You’ve been reading this list with a guilty expression on your face, going, “Uh huh… fits a bit… uh huh, that too… yeah, that’s me.”
