How do you prefer to conduct your interviews– via e-mail, phone or face-to-face?

Depends. For straight up how-to or health pieces, when I was doing them, it made more sense for me to do interviews via e-mail because I was working from India for international publications.
These days, I’m doing a lot of issue-based stories that require me to be at the scene of action, so I do a lot of face-to-face talking. I prefer in-person interviews, even though I’ve sometimes had to travel to other states for them.
I’ve done very few phone interviews, and I don’t much like them either.
The way I make my choice isn’t really according to my convenience, but more so about what the story requires.
