Editors and publishers need to rid themselves of this vocabulary. We don’t believe it anyway.

1. “The check is in the mail.”
2. “We’re on a very tight budget.”
3. “Other writers are fine with this contract.”
4. “No one pays travel expenses.”
5. “All rights is standard.”
