I haven’t read any of the Harry Potter books or seen any of the movies.

Let the public flogging begin. (Though I do own the first four books, so go a bit easy on me, will ya?)

  1. Don’t worry, I don’t read them either. I probably will in 10 years when it’s not such a big deal. I seem to get interested in things long after they are in the midst of being popular. I’ve seen the first 2-3 movies.

Neither have I. But I read Bilbo and the Lord of the Rings trilogy looooong before the movies were made!!!!!!!

  3. I actually have the books in my classroom for my kids to read. I, however, will not read a 600 page book about kids in a boarding school with flying brooms. I plan on doing what my students did for Moby Dick–wait until I can rent the movie!

  4. Never read them either, don’t own a copy. Did watch the movies though. Will read them, just not in a tearing hurry to do so, like a lot of people seem to be.

  5. That’s interesting. I thought I was a freak. I don’t really have a specific reason for not picking them up. I do plan to read them, but just haven’t gotten around to it, what with my stack of fifty-something books that I’ve bought in the last year still waiting to be read.

But yeah, the insanity of “Whee! I got the latest Harry Potter today and can’t wait to read it” blog posts escapes me. *shrugs*

I enjoyed reading your blog and picked up information about good books to read. I would like to take the liberty of commenting on not reading Harry Potter. I wonder how many Indian book reading public( above 45 years of age ) have not read Harry Potter or found it difficult to read. I am one of them , and it is a constant annoying thing for my children / nieces. May be being on the wrong side of 50 has something to do with it? :-)

  7. I used to love reading children’s books, but lately, I’ve found that I can’t even enjoy my all-time favorite– The Chronicles of Narnia. I had to force myself through Charlotte’s Web a couple of weeks ago, and re-reading Alice in Wonderland was less exciting than poking sticks in my eyes.

I have the Harry Potter books, but I couldn’t get through the first page of the first one. HOWEVER, I watched the first Harry Potter movie last week and loved it. For the purpose of this series, I’m going to become one of those people who skip the books and watch the movies.
