I was recently a guest on NPR’s “On the Media” radio show with Bob Garfield, where I spoke about the problems of women in India, and a newspaper that is making extraordinary strides in rural areas. You can hear the segment here: http://www.onthemedia.org/transcripts/2007/05/04/08

  1. What a wonderful story! It’s truly moving that these women have become so much more empowered, and have an impact not only on their own lives but those of others through the Mahila Paksh.

Isn’t it amazing what can be achieved when people work together with a higher purpose? If only everyone did the same, the world would be a much better place.

    Thanks for sharing, Mridu!

  2. Marvellous, real life stories about women empowerment in rural areas. Jay ho to Mahila Paksh for giving opportunities to these people to show what they are capable of despite limited resources and reporter skills; and to you for vulgarising such bold initiatives through your reports.
