I really love working with writers who take responsibility for their own success, are open to feedback, and are really willing to go deep when it comes to doing the work that is necessary to get to where they want to be. Elizabeth is exactly that kind of writer, which is why I absolutely loved working with her.
Here’s what she has to say about the Pitch Critiques program:
Doing Mridu’s [pitch critique] program… was very helpful for me. I already had the ideas and the pitches written out, but Mridu helped pinpoint the focuses and angles on each story and guided me on how to develop the pitches to better highlight each idea and how I would approach it. She gave clear critiques of the pros and cons of each pitch, telling me when something really didn’t work and why.
One of the three pitches really didn’t work for her and she clearly gave a lot of thought as to why an editor might not want it, even coming back to me with more ideas a week later. And her positive feedback and praise were really good for the ego. Those comments literally made me smile. I feel those pitches improved because she forced me to focus more clearly on what I wanted to say….
I wish I had Mridu’s logical, insightful voice in my head guiding me telepathically on each pitch I write as I’m often not sure how to approach something even if the idea is a good one. It’s great to have such a strong professional opinion from someone who knows how an editor thinks. Thank you, Mridu!
